Make your AI assistant an energy expert.
Claude and ChatGPT can reason about energy. GridTracker gives them the data and the tools to actually answer: interconnection queues, regulatory filings, and data center intelligence, updated daily.
Works with Claude · ChatGPT · any MCP client with OAuth support
Example question: What's the median time from queue entry to commercial operation for solar projects in ERCOT?
Answer: Across the 123 ERCOT solar projects that have reached commercial operation with complete date records, the median time from queue entry to COD is 1,699 days — about 4.7 years (as of July 2026).
Example question: What's the current status of the Stargate data center project in Abilene?
Answer: Operational. The Longhorn Data Center (Stargate Abilene) in Abilene, TX is a 1,000 MW hyperscale campus in ERCOT, developed and operated by Crusoe Energy on a site owned by Lancium — tracked through 130 permit records since December 2021.
Example question: How much battery storage capacity entered the interconnection queue in the last 12 months?
Answer: Roughly 148 GW across ~637 projects since July 2025. The non-ISO West leads with 67.9 GW of new battery capacity in the queue, followed by MISO at 27.7 GW and ERCOT at 24.5 GW.
Example question: What's happening with large-load interconnection rules for data centers in Texas?
Answer: ERCOT is evaluating more than 438,000 MW of large-load requests — roughly 89% tied to data centers — and Senate Bill 6 now requires interconnecting large loads to meet financial, planning, and operational standards. Source: PUCT Project No. 59824, public comments (June 2026).
What your assistant can do with GridTracker
Primary-source regulatory research
Your assistant can search millions of pages of primary-source regulatory documents (state PUC dockets, FERC filings, grid operator studies), then drill into a single filing and quote exactly what was said, with citations.
Ask things like: “What did the commission require in that order?” · “Who actually owns this asset after the acquisition?”
How big is ERCOT's large-load interconnection backlog?
More than 438,000 MW of large-load requests are under evaluation — roughly 89% tied to data centers.

Interconnection queue analytics
Every transmission interconnection request in the country, captured daily. Your assistant can compute real metrics like timelines, attrition, and capacity trends, and track exactly how any project changed over time.
Ask things like: “How much battery capacity entered the queue this year, and where?” · “Which projects changed status this week?”
Median time to COD for solar projects in ERCOT?
1,699 days — about 4.7 years — median from queue entry to commercial operation, across 123 operational projects (as of July 2026).
Data center intelligence
Structured facts on data center facilities and their permits: locations, power capacity, who's developing and operating them, statuses, timelines.
Ask things like: “What's the permitting status of that hyperscale campus?” · “Which operators are building in Texas right now?”
Status of the Stargate campus in Abilene?
Operational — a 1,000 MW campus developed and operated by Crusoe Energy, owned by Lancium, in ERCOT.
How to connect
One URL for everyone, with no API keys to manage. Once your organization has MCP access enabled, it's connect, sign in, done.
https://www.gridtracker.io/api/mcp/setupClaude (web or desktop)
- 1.In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.
- 2.Paste the GridTracker connect URL from above and click Add.
- 3.Sign in to GridTracker when prompted and approve access.
- 4.Done. Ask an energy question and watch the tools go to work.
Claude Code and other MCP clients
The same URL works in any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth. In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http gridtracker https://www.gridtracker.io/api/mcp/setup
ChatGPT
- 1.In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode (a beta feature on paid plans).
- 2.Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create. Name the connector GridTracker, paste the connect URL from above, and set Authentication to OAuth.
- 3.Sign in to GridTracker when prompted and approve access.
- 4.In a chat, click the + in the composer and enable GridTracker under More → Developer mode. Then ask away.
What you need
- A GridTracker account with an active subscription, and MCP access enabled for your organization.
- Sign-in happens through the standard OAuth consent screen in your AI client, with no keys or configuration.
- The connector currently supports accounts that belong to exactly one organization. If you're a member of multiple organizations, contact us.

Frequently asked questions
What can my assistant do once connected?
It can research primary-source regulatory documents with citations, compute real metrics over the national interconnection queue (with daily history), and pull structured facts on data center facilities and their permits. In short: the energy questions your assistant used to hedge on, it can now answer from authoritative data.
Which AI tools are supported?
Claude (web, desktop, and Claude Code) and ChatGPT (requires developer mode, a beta feature on paid plans). Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth should also work.
How fresh is the data?
Updated daily. GridTracker is built by the interconnection.fyi team, and the underlying datasets refresh every day.
What can the connector access, and what can't it do?
All tools are read-only. Your assistant can query GridTracker's energy datasets (interconnection queue, regulatory document corpus, data center records) under your subscription. It cannot modify anything in GridTracker, cannot access other customers' data, and cannot answer from sources outside GridTracker's datasets. Responses are bounded: this is a research tool, not a bulk-export API.
What does GridTracker log?
Tool invocations (which tools were called, when, by which account) are logged for billing and security. See our privacy policy and terms of use for details.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the connector in your AI client. You can also revoke access from GridTracker account settings. Revocation is durable by design: after revoking, reconnecting requires clicking "Allow reconnection" in GridTracker settings first.
Something's not working.
Email [email protected] and we'll get you sorted. Common cases: you need an active GridTracker subscription; MCP access needs to be enabled for your organization (contact us to enable it); accounts belonging to more than one organization aren't supported yet; or a previously revoked connection needs "Allow reconnection" in GridTracker account settings before it can reconnect.
